Super Discount is the debut album by French DJ and producer Étienne de Crécy. Although the track listing lists several artists, the majority of the credited artists are aliases for de Crécy alone or in collaboration. The album was followed in 2004 by the sequel release Super Discount . With relatively few French artists following the international success of Etienne de Crecy and Alex Gopher, it seems “Super Discount” will remain a stand-alone classic. Released in ’97, the album was instantly a standard bearer for the times, and was such a class act it was regularly named one of the top – if not the top – compilations of the year by all the dance mags. Just one listen to de Crecy’s “Prix Choc” (he also mixed and produced the album) will convince you that he – along with Daft Punk – reinvented house music. If you like your music funky and soulful this album is essential.
